The Event

Moon Street Episode 5 » Digital Revolution

@ The Orange Rooms

In the preview we asked if the invited AUCB Lecturers could handle the pressure, and in the build up to the event it seems that pressure proved too much for Matt Johnson as he managed to self-harm with a pair of scissors - a petty excuse we think. Anyway Joel and Mr.Benson bravely stepped up to the plate and were rewarded with increased exposure.

As said before Episode 5 was intended as another creative experiment to the both Moon Street and Bournemouth -  in the form of live digital art and we feel it was a success. With both artists strapped into their laptops, and their work screened live onto giant screens the format managed to mix perfectly with the musical performance - the art adding a Vj style backdrop. Check the pictures of the event…and much appreciation to all those who turned out - without you there is no point to Moon Street.

 » Technicolour Moon

The night also saw Technicolour Moon flex their artistic muscle as Max Galbraith and Richard Baker were given two giant lamp shades from their iconic sponsors Anglepoise, to draw on! Suspended from the ceiling the lamp gave an unobtrusive focus point to the rear of the event, allowing people to sit down and take in the music whilst not losing the artistic vibe of the event.

Music

» The Red Light Orchestra

Strutting their stuff in front of the projected live digital art (background) the RLO rocked out a great mini-set with folk-inspired music that perfectly accompanied the artistic feel about the proceedings.

» The Part Timers

The Part Timers headlined the night with an awesome collection of musical covers including the must-see rendition of Kings of Leons ‘Sex on Fire’. Bringing an eclectic mix to the table the band lines up with 2 MC’s, an acoustic guitar and a beat-boxer. This ensures a lively performance everytime, and they didn’t disappoint, drawing in crowds to appreciate the art that was in full flow by this point.
